You know the old saying "best laid plans...", well that's what has happened to me the past two weeks!  There is a nasty flu bug circulating in our area that snuck in before the vaccines were being offered, and I happened to get it.  Starting to feel a little better now but I miss being in the studio!!  I had hoped to have my niece's quilt finished by now and pictures posted but alas, I haven't even started to quilt it yet!!  I can only hope that next week will be better!!  My advice - GET YOUR FLU SHOT!!!! (I will be getting mine tomorrow!)

Monday 24 October 2011

It's been a while since I last posted.  October was a busy month, getting things done before I went on vacation.  I returned on Saturday and what an amazing vacation it was!!  This was our third visit back to the beautiful Dominican Republic and it is certainly not our last!  The people are so warm and friendly.  Now, I am relaxed and recharged and ready to get back to work!

Saturday 1 October 2011

Well, it's October 1st already!  I made this little wall hanging last year and it sold right away!  People just love the Halloween themes!!  I spent a great day yesterday with my granddaughter Tarra at the Waterloo County Quilt Guild quilt show!  Such talented ladies.  The quilts were amazing and Tarra and I had a hard time picking our three favourites.  I'm happy to announce that you can now access the 2 Crazy Quilters, my quilt business site with Renee,  through Google.  Check it out when you have time.  I'm also excited about my upcoming vacation.  It's been quite awhile since my husband and I have had a chance to get away and we will be leaving October 15 for a week of sun and relaxation in the Dominican Republic.  It's a cool, rainy day here in Southern Ontario and I think I will start a new project today.  Have a great weekend, everyone!  Till next time......

I love Japanese prints.  I had some in my stash and found a package of pre-cut Japanese prints at the local quilt shop.  I couldn't resist.  Maybe one day, I'll actually get to visit that beautiful country.

"Gobble till you Wobble"

I couldn't resist making this little gem from Briarwood Cottage designs.  It will hang outside my house for Thanksgiving.  I used the freezer paper method using glue sticks and toothpicks for the applique.  I will be teaching a class using this method in the months to come.

Learn the Basics

Learn the basics of quilt making and leave with this little wall hanging (or table topper).  I will teach you how to prepare the fabric, use a rotory cutter and piece two different blocks.  Then, piece the blocks together, put on a border and you are ready for the next class!  If you are in the Kitchener area and are interested, email me at threadbare1@sympatico.ca

Wednesday 3 August 2011

Well, it has taken a bit of work, but my "Learn the Basics" beginner quilting class is ready.  I can accommodate 3 students for this all day class.  There will be two classes a week, one on a weekday and the other on a Saturday.  I have scheduled the first class for Tuesday, September 20, 2011.  I will be offering many other classes this fall including "applique" and "hand quilting".  Can't wait to get started!!!

Saturday 30 July 2011

Now that I have plenty of room in my new studio, I'm looking forward to teaching new quilters!  I have many classes planned including beginner classes, intermediate classes including applique by hand and machine, landscape quilts and will also teach the time honored tradition of hand quilting.   Still a little more preparing to do but should be ready by September.

Let's Eat!

I love to make things for around the house and when I saw this pattern for placemats in a quilt magazine, I just had to make them.  I made the table runner a while back and choose the same fabrics for the placements.

Welcome to my Blog

Are you a quilt maniac or quiltaholic like me?  My name is Susan and I've been quilting almost 20 years!  I'm really excited about having my own blog and connecting with other quilters.  I'm still fairly new at this blogging thing so forgive me if things don't look exactly right.  Till next time.
